What the statuses mean
- Visa-free
- No application at all. You board with your passport and get a stamp at the border.
- Visa on arrival
- No application, but you pay a fee when you land. Cash is often required.
- Electronic authorisation (eTA)
- A short online form before you fly. Approved in minutes; it is not a visa.
- E-visa
- A real visa application, submitted online. Needs documents and a fee, and can take days.
- Visa required
- You must apply at a consulate. Appointment, paperwork, sometimes an interview.
- No admission
- Entry is not accepted on this passport.

How current is this data?
For the Turkish passport we use data from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For the other 198 passports we use the open-source passport-index dataset, and we say so on every page. Visa rules can change without notice, so always confirm with an official source before you travel.
Does visa-free tell me how long I can stay?
No. Visa-free entry grants a different length in every country, from 15 days to 90 days and in some cases a full year. The exact durations are listed country by country on your passport page.
I hold two passports. Which one should I pick?
Check both separately and travel on whichever gives you the easier entry. Most countries expect you to leave on the same passport you entered with.
What is the difference between visa on arrival and an e-visa?
Visa on arrival is handled when you land, with nothing done in advance. An e-visa must be approved BEFORE you fly — without it you may be denied boarding.
